World Tourism Day

27.09.2024.

In the heart of Kvarner, where the crystal-clear sea meets the lush Mediterranean vegetation, lies a beautiful place with a rich history and an even richer future. This is Malinska, which this year celebrates a significant anniversary – a full 115 years since the official beginning of tourism development.

It all began in 1909, when the founding of the Society for the Beautification of the Place laid the foundation for a long tradition that made Malinska one of the most famous tourist destinations in Kvarner. Since then, generations have come to Malinska to enjoy the beauty of nature, the crystal-clear sea, and the hospitality of the hosts.

To mark this important anniversary and as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day under the motto ‘Tourism and Peace’, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica invites you on a special journey through time. On Friday, September 27, the doors of the Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center – DUBoak will be open to all visitors, completely free of charge.

In this unique center, located in the heart of Malinska, you can discover the fascinating story of the connection between people and the sea. Through interactive exhibits and multimedia content, you will experience how the sea has shaped life in Malinska, from traditional ships and fishing techniques to navigational instruments that once guided seafarers on long voyages.
