Krk Romantic Bike Story – 12-13 June 2021

Welcome to the island of Krk romantic cycling adventure!

We continue with of Krk Romantic Bike Story, we invite you to a romantic MTB guided tour on a weekend ideal for MTB enthusiasts and active couples who want to get to know the romantic side of the island of Krk and learn more about its rich history, biodiversity, wines and cuisine.

DAY 1, Saturday 12 June – Krk Romantic Bike Story is a guided circular bike tour that will reveal to you some of the island’s hidden historical sites and beautiful romantic views.

The 37-km-long route, with a total elevation of 650 metres, starts from Malinska along the coastal promenade towards Porat. It continues through olive groves and past dry-stone walls to Sveti Vid, Sužan, Čižići, Jezero and Njivice, before returning to Malinska.

DAY 2, Sunday 13 June – A completely new cycling experience. ‘The Golden Island of Krk Treasure Hunt’ will introduce you – with the help of a map and clues – to many of the island’s historical curiosities and unique natural phenomena in an entertaining and interesting way.

 Refreshments are provided for all participants, and the first three couples to locate the treasure will receive valuable romantic prizes.

Krk Romantic Bike Story – the tour:

After the start and a short ride through Malinska, we reach Porat by the coastal promenade and continue along the marked MTB trail no. 26 through a typical island landscape with olive groves and dry-stone walls. We turn in the direction of Fumak viewpoint, a votive cross that offers a beautiful view of the entire Kvarner Gulf, where we’ll learn the interesting story about its origins. We continue riding through olive groves and the villages of Turčić and Milovčići, where there will be a short refreshment break. The route then continues through Kremenići and Sv. Vid and along forest paths in the direction of Sužan and Čižići where a light refreshment is planned on Meline Beach, famous for its healing mud. We continue riding in the direction of Jezero, the largest natural freshwater habitat on the island of Krk, which is extremely important for the preservation of the biodiversity of the island of Krk and the wider Kvarner area. We pass through Njivice and continue along the Rajska Cesta road to reach Malinska, the end point of our tour. Refreshments will be provided on the waterfront.

Krk Romantic Bike Story – the tour:

In the Sunday part of the MTB Romantic Story, all the participants become explorers. With the help of a map, directions and guides along the route, we embark on the ‘The Golden Island of Krk Treasure Hunt’ adventure. The answers and clues provided along the marked route will ultimately lead us to the treasure. This engaging treasure hunt guarantees a good time for all participants, and the three winning couples will receive romantic prizes.

The route is 41 km long with a total of elevation of 650 m.

After the forming of teams, instructions and maps will be provided.

The treasure hunt starts at 10:00 along a non-demanding, marked route in the direction of Malinska. After passing through the centre of Malinska, we continue through Milčetići and Milovčići in the direction of Sv. Vid, where the archaeological collection contains artefacts from the 5^th and 6^th centuries found during the excavation of the nearby site of Cickini. Forest roads will take us to Čižići and Rudin, where we will visit the Biserujka Cave and enjoy some refreshments. The route continues along gravel paths to the archaeological site of Mirine-Fulfinum, an ancient town and early Christian complex in the bay of Sepen near Omišalj. After a short refreshment break, we will continue riding to Njivice, the end point of this tour. The event ends with the winner award ceremony, refreshments and a get-together for all participants.

Important information:

* For those who do not have their own bicycle, the CycleCroatia team offers the option of renting full-suspension MTB and eMTB bikes and child seats at promotional prices upon prior notice to info@cyclecroatia.com. The price is 100 kn for a full-suspension MTB and 150 kn for an eMTB – https://cyclecroatia.com/bike-rentalcroatia/. The first three registered participants will be eligible for free eMTB/MTB rental.

* Wearing a helmet is recommended for all participants, who are required to comply with traffic rules and the Traffic Safety Act. By signing the registration form, participants agree to participate at their own risk, to be aware of all risks and possible physical injuries and to waive any transfer of responsibility to the organiser or a third legal or natural person.

* The cycling tour is suitable for families and requires a basic level of fitness, which can be acquired by daily cycling.

* Participation of children up to 16 years is allowed ONLY if accompanied by parents / Participants aged 16-18 can participate ONLY on production of written consent of parents before the tour.

* The event will take place in accordance with applicable epidemiological measures. All participants are required to observe epidemiological measures to protect their own health and the health of other participants.
